Action Statue is an inclusive group exhibition showcasing all of the known toy artists in the Toronto area. Every piece is an original character derived from the artist’s imagination. An imagination that is heavily influenced by our shared love of toys and pop culture. Techniques vary between artists, but each piece is produced through an intensive process of sculpting, mold making and casting. This method results in handmade, limited edition multiples. These sculptures act as playful explorations of contemporary character design and challenge our conceptions of what an action figure, doll or play-thing can embody.
