Calling visual artists working in all mediums and makers in craft & design, to submit applications to the 56th annual juried Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition.
Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition’s Awards Program is unprecedented and unique in North America. Last year we took a huge step forward to make a major increase in our historical awards. The vision behind our awards is to create opportunities for the selected artists in order to truly advance their careers, to provide public recognition, and to make a significant financial contribution to their practices. We are proud to announce that we will be keeping our commitment to the awards increase for the 56th edition of the Exhibition and will be awarding over $30,000 cash and in-kind prizes to the best artists in their practices. Here is the list of awards for 2017:
- $5,500 to the winner of Best of Exhibition Award
- $5,500 to the winner of Founding Chairman Award
- The Mayor’s Purchase Award which brings the winners’ artwork into the City of Toronto’s significant art collection
- $2,200 Artscape Award for Best Student
- $3,000 exhibition at Propeller Gallery for Best Emerging Artist
- $2,000 for the Best of each category: Craft & Design, Painting, Photography and Digital media, 2D works and 3D Works
- $2,000 Cash & Purchase Award for Best of Ceramics
- $1,000 People’s Choice Award
- And many more cash and in-kind awards for Honourable Mentions
These awards are generously donated by a passionate circle of donors, historical patrons, and community partners who truly believe in advancing the arts and artists’ careers. The winners will be selected by industry experts and seasoned art professionals during the Exhibition. About Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition
The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is Toronto’s first and Canada’s largest, longest-running juried outdoor contemporary art fair. Founded in 1961, Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition was established to nurture artistic excellence and artists’ entrepreneurial spirit, and to showcase contemporary art to the general public. This free public event showcases works by over 320 contemporary visual artists, ranging in medium from painting, photography, and mixed media to design and installations and attracts 100,000 visitors each year to Nathan Phillips Square.
